How is the length of the straight edge between the head and the cylinder determined?

As the title suggests, whether it’s a horizontal or vertical vessel, the length of the lap joint between the head and the shell is usually 25 or 40. How are these values determined? Are they based on experience or on standards?

Actually, it should be a standard based on experience values, right?
According to the standards for end caps, for end caps with a DN of 2000 mm or more, the length of the straight edges is 40 mm; for end caps with a DN of less than 2000 mm, the length of the straight edges is 25 mm.
The head standards specify this; of course, if a special structure requires it, the straight edge sections can be made longer. The longer the straight edge sections, the more difficult it is to shape them.
