It’s my first time carrying out installation on-site and I’m not very familiar with the process, so I’d like to ask the experts here: 1. The supervisor said that when unloading standard-sized 304 stainless steel tanks onto the ground (whether it’s the soil or the floor of a workshop), shims are needed. But since stainless steel tanks won’t get damaged when in contact with soil or concrete, is it really necessary to use such shims? 2. During the lifting of the equipment, one flange interface was damaged, causing the pipe connection to tilt by about 10°. Is this acceptable?
1. The cement floor won’t get damaged, but you need to protect the tanks; it’s not good if the stainless steel surface gets scratched. 2. If the connecting pipes are misaligned, there must be some plastic deformation somewhere, and this needs to be repaired
It’s okay if you don’t understand, but you need to take responsibility if problems arise. Someone should guide them. For things like the on-site inspection of such equipment, one cannot simply sign off without proper procedure; there must be a set of steps followed, with relevant personnel present to confirm everything. Kind suggestions for your reference.

It’s okay to question. It is also okay to question leadership. The doubts must be well-founded, not based on imagination. Even plain stainless steel materials cannot be placed directly on the floor upon arrival to avoid scratches and damage; do you think it’s okay for the equipment to rub against the floor? The containers are made of stainless steel, which indicates that corrosion resistance is required; generally, their surfaces undergo pickling and passivation treatments. If there are scratches on them, that’s a problem. The flanged fitting is tilted; how can it be connected when installed later, and will it still be able to provide a seal? Could the weld seam develop cracks caused by external forces? Will the crack cause a leak? By following your supervisor’s instructions, you won’t take any blame and will also learn a lot, after all it’s your first time. Small matters often lead to big consequences; one must be serious when doing things.
None of them work! Protection is needed, and damage is absolutely not allowed!
