Issues with baffle plates in block graphite heat exchangers – seek solutions

I’m writing the maintenance procedures, and I’ve never encountered block graphite heat exchangers before. I felt a bit confused while looking at the relevant information; as shown in the figure below, could everyone help me out? I don’t understand it. It is Xianda Melson’s block-hole graphite heat exchanger; the numbers NC 210-216-310-316 represent the 4 models of this equipment. I only understood the part about N+1 above, as well as the fact that there are no baffle plates between the upper and lower end caps and the graphite blocks. I couldn’t understand the part describing multiple processes below; could someone explain it to me? .
Which organization do you work for? We also want to buy a block graphite heat exchanger, or one made of silicon carbide.
