China Air Separation won the EPC general contract for the air separation project at China Coal Ordos Energy and Chemical Co., Ltd. Author/Source: Date: 10-12-2018 Clicks: 36 Recently, China Air Separation Engineering Co., Ltd., which is part of China Pufa Machinery Industry Co., Ltd. under the Sinopec Group (hereinafter referred to as “China Air Separation”), successfully secured the EPC general contract for an air separation system with a capacity of 75,000 Nm3/h as part of the technical upgrade project aimed at increasing the annual methanol production capacity to 1 million tons at China Coal Ordos Energy and Chemical Co., Ltd. The project is designed to produce 2 million tons of synthetic ammonia, 3.5 million tons of urea, and 200,000 tons of liquefied natural gas per year, with a total investment of 20 billion yuan. This successful bid marks the second time that the two parties have collaborated, following the first phase of the 2X40,000 Nm3/h air separation project carried out by China Coal Ordos Energy Chemical Co., Ltd. It represents an important milestone for China Air Separation in the field of EPC contracting for air separation projects. **It enhances China Air Separation’s influence within the domestic air separation industry and has significant implications for the company’s ability to undertake large-scale EPC projects in this sector in the future. The project of China Coal Ordos Energy Chemical Co., Ltd., which aims to produce 2 million tons of synthetic ammonia and 3.5 million tons of urea per year, was launched in two phases. The first phase, which included a 2X40,000 Nm3/h air separation unit, was completed in 2013; the second phase involved the construction of an air separation unit with a capacity of 75,000 Nm3/h to support the methanol production. The preparation for the second-phase project took over four years; adhering to the philosophy of serving its customers, China Air Separation has consistently provided technical support to them over the years. Once the plan for a 75,000 Nm3/h air separation plant was finalized, it attracted competition from numerous engineering companies in China. Thanks to its high-quality services, advanced technology, and extensive experience in EPC turnkey projects, China Air Separation stood out with a clear advantage in this competition and ultimately won the contract for the EPC construction of the 75,000 Nm3/h air separation plant for China Coal.
