Shaanxi Petrochemical Successfully Cuts Off Flue Gas Trailing Effects Author/Source: Shaanxi Petrochemical News Date: June 16, 2020 Clicks: 101 On June 5, the flue gas whitening system of Shaanxi Shanxi Petrochemical Coal Chemical Group Company was put into operation. Looking around, there were no longer long white plumes coming from the tall chimneys; the sky was clear and blue. This is the first set of flue gas trailing control equipment in China that combines ammonia-based desulfurization, condensation separation, and MGGH whitening removal technologies. The flue gas whitening removal renovation project at Shaanxi Chemical Industry Company employs a condensation + separation + reheating process: a flue gas cooler is installed in front of each boiler exhaust fan, and at the outlet of each desulfurization unit, there is a flue gas condensation and separation unit, a demisting unit, and a flue gas reheating unit. This setup enables the effective condensation, separation, and recovery of pollutants in the flue gas, thereby eliminating the problem of flue gas trailing effectively. It is understood that this technology differs from both direct optimization of the desulfurization process to achieve flue gas purification, and the simple MGGH process which merely heats the flue gas to increase its height and thereby give an apparent whitening effect. Instead, it effectively removes pollutants such as ammonia and sulfates that contribute to the formation of aerosols, achieving true whitening, while also condensing and recovering the liquid substances and ammonium salts contained in the flue gas. Since 2016, Shaanxi Chemical Industry Company has carried out upgrades for flue gas denitration as well as improvements to achieve ultra-low emissions levels. All 3 boilers with a capacity of 260 t/h have now achieved ultra-low emission standards, which has significantly improved the surrounding environment. Although smoke emissions are not polluting, their long trailing effect affects the visual experience. In order to take proactive steps in improving environmental standards and enhancing the environment, Shaanxi Chemical Company has embraced its responsibilities as a state-owned enterprise; even in the absence of mandatory policy requirements, it has voluntarily implemented measures to remove smoke plumes from boiler exhausts, thereby improving the local environmental quality and contributing to the improvement of the air quality in the Fenwei Plain region. The system was put into operation in October 2019, with a development period of 9 months. After it was put into operation, the white plumes of mist that used to hang over the Shaanxi Chemical Plant area no longer appeared, eliminating the visual pollution.
It eliminates visual pollution – what can be said about that?
How much was invested in this project?
