On December 27, the Shandong Provincial Development and Reform Commission released the list of provincial key infrastructure projects for 2021; the first phase of the Lunan Coal Storage and Distribution Base project by Lunan Chemical made it onto this list. The Southern Shandong Coal Storage and Distribution Base is a key project aimed at implementing the important directives of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government regarding the strengthening of coal storage capacity across the province, as well as accelerating the development of a readily dispatchable coal reserve capacity. To earnestly fulfill its crucial role in ensuring energy security across the province, the Energy Group has made an overall plan for three large-scale coal storage and distribution bases, including the Southern Shandong Coal Storage and Distribution Base, in areas where coal consumption is concentrated. The designed storage capacity of the Southern Shandong Coal Storage and Distribution Base is 1 million tons, to be completed in two phases. The construction scale of Phase I is such that it can store 500,000 tons of coal statically. The construction of the project takes into account the distribution of coal consumption and the available resources of the energy group. It makes full use of existing facilities at Lunan Chemical, such as its dedicated railway line and storage yards. The storage base is to be built on the Weizhuang Coal Yard site, located approximately 3 km south of Lunan Chemical. The project will also help alleviate the environmental pressures faced by the enterprise, while providing a stable source of raw materials for both the company and nearby coal consumers. The Provincial Development and Reform Commission requires all levels and departments to strengthen operational guidance, enhance coordination and support, and accelerate the construction of projects in accordance with laws and regulations. Moving forward, the company will further strengthen organizational leadership and ensure that responsibilities at all levels are clearly defined and fulfilled. In accordance with the planned project scale, functional positioning, construction sites, and deadlines, it will proactively carry out preliminary work for the coal reserve projects, thereby contributing to the accelerated development of key provincial projects.
