At 10:18 a.m. on May 28, 2024, the first synthesis tower of Huayi Industrial Gas’ ammonia synthesis plant was successfully lifted, marking the full entry of the ammonia synthesis plant into the equipment installation phase. The Huayi Syngas Supply and Supporting Project has built a new acetic acid plant with an annual capacity of 800,000 tons, as well as a synthetic ammonia plant with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons; it also supplies 80,000 m3/h of CO+H2 to the chemical industry zone. The construction scope includes air separation, POX units, MDEA purification, membrane separation and PSA, CO cryogenic tanks, ammonia synthesis, acetic acid plants, etc. As a core component of Hua Yi Industrial Gases’ POX project, the design and construction of the ammonia synthesis plant have received considerable attention. Over the past few months, Huayi Industrial Gas Company has worked closely with numerous well-known domestic and international enterprises and experts to ensure the technical advancement and safety reliability of ammonia synthesis plants. The total investment in Huayi Syngas Supply and Supporting Projects is 5.386 billion yuan. Located in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone, it mainly includes the construction of a new acetic acid plant with an annual capacity of 800,000 tons, as well as a synthetic ammonia plant with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons; it also involves supplying 80,000 Nm3/h of CO+H2 syngas to the Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone, along with related supporting facilities. The construction scope includes air separation, POX units, MDEA purification, membrane separation and PSA, CO cryogenic tanks, ammonia synthesis, acetic acid plants, etc. In November 2023, Sinochem Southwest Research Institute stood out among domestic and international competitors in the bidding process for two PSA hydrogen production units as part of the syngas supply and related projects at Shanghai Huayi Industrial Gas Co., Ltd., and won the contract. As the EPC contractor for this project, Southwest Institute provides patented technologies, engineering design, a complete set of equipment and materials, as well as valve rack skids. The project includes a high-pressure pressure swing adsorption hydrogen production unit and a low-pressure pressure swing adsorption hydrogen production unit. On August 16, 2023, China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd. signed a general contract for the supply of syngas as well as the construction of POX and ammonia synthesis units and related auxiliary facilities for the Huayi project with Shanghai Huayi Industrial Gas Co., Ltd.
