To all vehicle manufacturers and testing institutions: In accordance with regulations such as the \"Guiding Opinions of Eight Departments on the Deployment of Methanol-Fueled Vehicles in Certain Areas\" (MIIT Joint Document No. 61 [2019]), the requirements for submitting applications for methanol-fueled vehicles that meet the National VI emission standards are stated as follows: I. Requirements for submitting product applications 1. Enterprises shall select the appropriate vehicle category when applying for methanol-fueled vehicle products, and the product name must include the word \"methanol\". Methanol vehicle products must meet relevant requirements such as the \"Requirements for the Approval of Road Motor Vehicle Products\" (Announcement No. 1 of 2019) and the \"Guiding Opinions of Eight Departments on the Deployment of Methanol Vehicles in Certain Areas\" (MIIT Joint Notice [2019] No. 61). 2. Methanol-powered vehicles are subject to testing for \"methanol and formaldehyde emissions\" in accordance with the \"Guiding Opinions of Eight Departments on the Deployment of Methanol-Powered Vehicles in Certain Areas\" (MIIT Joint Notice [2019] No. 61) and HJ1137-2020 \"Methods for Measuring Emissions of Abnormal Pollutants from Methanol-Fueled Vehicles\"; the previous J3 test item for \"formaldehyde emissions\" is no longer applicable. 3. The emissions of evaporative pollutants from methanol-powered vehicles (as well as emissions from fueling) are tested in accordance with the standard HJ1137-2020 \"Measurement Methods for Unconventional Pollutant Emissions from Methanol-Fueled Vehicles\", in combination with standards such as GB18352.6-2016 \"Emission Limits and Measurement Methods for Pollutants from Light-Duty Vehicles (China Phase VI)\」 or GB14763-2005 \"Emission Limits and Measurement Methods for Fuel Evaporation Pollutants from Heavy-Duty Vehicles Equipped with Spark-Ignition Engines (Collection Method)\». 4. When conducting emission durability tests on vehicles in accordance with GB18352.6-2016 \"Emission limits and measurement methods for light-duty vehicles (China Phase VI)\" or GB17691-2018 \"Emission limits and measurement methods for heavy-duty diesel vehicles (China Phase VI)\", it is necessary to carry out simultaneously the J2 test item \"Inspection of fuel system and exhaust system for durability tests\" ； When determining compliance with emission durability using the degradation coefficients recommended by standards, the J2 test is no longer required. II. Requirements for the application of heavy-duty engine families: Methanol-fueled engines shall be subject to the application and evaluation procedures for engine families as specified in GB17691-2018.
