On July 8, Yunnan Jiehua Lvyuan Chemical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Jiehua Lvyuan Company”) was officially established in Kaiyuan City, Honghe Prefecture, marking a new stage in the relocation, transformation, and development of the Jiehua Company – a project funded and controlled by Yunnan Coal Group – aimed at producing 500,000 tons of synthetic ammonia as well as related downstream products. The relocation and expansion project is centered around a 500,000-ton/year ammonia synthesis plant, with accompanying downstream facilities including a 500,000-ton/year urea plant, a 540,000-ton/year nitric acid plant, a 550,000-ton/year ammonium nitrate plant, a 300,000-ton/year urea-based water-soluble fertilizer plant, and a 300,000-ton/year nitro-based water-soluble fertilizer plant; the total annual production capacity is 2.69 million tons. Upstream of the project, it will facilitate the clean conversion of 2.3 million tons of lignite from the Xiaolongtan Coal Mine each year, enabling the transformation of this lignite from a \"fuel\" into high-value chemical materials ； Integrating downstream industries such as high-end electronic chemicals, new nylon materials, and specialty rubbers to establish a symbiotic and mutually beneficial industrial ecosystem of \"basic raw materials—chemical intermediates—high-end products\". The project utilizes autonomous cleaning technology, which reduces energy consumption by approximately 30%, far exceeding the **industry benchmark levels. Once operational, it will result in a 87% reduction in sulfur dioxide emissions, a 74% reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions, and a 30% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. Additionally, 70% of wastewater will be reused, setting a national example for the green and low-carbon transformation of high-energy-consuming industries. With a total investment of 7 billion yuan, this project is regarded as a top-priority initiative in the province. It represents the strategic efforts by Yunnan Energy Investment Group and Yunnan Coal Group to implement the provincial Party committee and government’s plans to vigorously develop the resource economy and energy industry as part of an integrated strategy, with the aim of strengthening and expanding the energy sector as the main pillar of the economy. It is also a crucial step in advancing integrated operations and maximizing the value of the entire industrial chain, thereby contributing new momentum to Yunnan’s efforts to become a leader in green energy and to achieving the \"dual carbon\" goals. At the same time, this project also serves as a key support for Yunnan Nengtou Group and Yunnan Coal Group in establishing a multi-energy complementary system in the Honghe region that combines wind, solar, thermal, coal, and hydrogen storage, thereby enabling the coordinated development of modern logistics and the industrial chain and supply chain in the coal chemical industry. As the \"key enterprise\" of the Honghe Prefecture integrated base, the Jiehua Relocation Project will supply the park with stable supplies of basic chemical raw materials such as liquid ammonia and nitric acid, and it will also attract the aggregation of high-end electronic chemicals industry clusters, thereby significantly improving the efficiency of the regional energy system as well as the overall benefits of resource development. Once completed and put into operation by 2028, the project is expected to generate an annual output value of 4 billion yuan and profits and taxes amounting to 900 million yuan, thus becoming an important pillar of the local economy. In terms of geographical advantages, as a frontline location for Yunnan Province to serve as a hub for connecting with South Asia and Southeast Asia, the project takes advantage of the China-Laos Railway and the Pan-Asian Railway Network to efficiently reach markets in Laos, Vietnam, and other countries. It facilitates the dissemination of advanced coal chemical technologies, high-efficiency fertilizer products, and customized agricultural solutions, thereby contributing to regional food security and agricultural modernization while strengthening industrial cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
