According to a report from Hong Sifang Co., Ltd. in May 2026, in order to further ensure the long-term safe and stable operation of the ammonia synthesis plants and related facilities and to improve the inherent safety level of these equipment, the company carried out a comprehensive shutdown for maintenance of the ammonia synthesis plants; at the same time, maintenance was also carried out on facilities involved in the production of soda ash, prussic acid, and refined products. The focus of this maintenance work includes 16 key tasks, such as the maintenance of the air compressors in Phase 1, boosters, turbines, pressure combiners, ammonia compressors, as well as the replacement of catalysts in the synthesis tower. After 6 hours of intensive efforts, at 15:20 on May 15, Belt No. 7 in the heat and power workshop of the ammonia synthesis plant was repaired and resumed operating successfully. The first phase of Zhongyan Hongsi Fang’s ammonia synthesis plant utilizes the multi-component slurry gasification technology developed by the Northwest Institute of Chemical Technology, as well as low-temperature methanol washing and liquid nitrogen washing techniques; it is capable of producing 280,000 tons per year of ammonia and 300,000 tons per year of urea through low-pressure synthesis processes.
