Can the diameter of the same pipeline number in the process package be changed?

As the title suggests, is it possible to have different diameters for the same pipeline number within a process package? Does the addition of elbows require the pipeline numbers to be changed? What are the principles behind assigning pipeline numbers, and what are the relevant standards?
There’s no need to change the sign; generally, it’s the level that changes, which in turn affects the sign
Are there any relevant guidance documents? Or is it just common sense?
