There are carbon steel storage tanks for liquid caustic (32%) and stainless steel storage tanks for hydrogen peroxide (27.5%), which contain the respective hazardous chemicals. These tanks have not been in use for over a month, and now condensation water is appearing on their outer walls. Location: Tieshan Port, Beihai, Guangxi. Such a phenomenon does not occur in tanks that are in normal use.

The local temperature is 10 degrees, and the metal shell of the tank is also at 10 degrees. When saturated air at 17 degrees comes into contact with this surface at 10 degrees, a temperature difference of 7 degrees arises, causing the supersaturated water vapor to condense
Why doesn’t this happen with tanks that are in normal use? Why is there such a distinct boundary line?
