Then comes the regular inspection time; the inspection starts with checking from the control room, examining the logic and signals ; Then check the wiring ; Next, check the locator ; Check the gas circuit ; Finally, it’s time to check the valve body – examine the valve stem and packing, and remove it to inspect the valve seat… Faults I’ve seen: Starting with the silly ones: 1. In the case of control valves, if the flow rate downstream is too low, the valve remains open at around 5%; adjustments need to be made accordingly. The opening degree should be kept at least at 15%, with 30% being the normal level. So, it’s necessary to manually reduce the opening of the manual valve to get proper performance. 2. For the wafer-type butterfly valve, it wasn’t positioned correctly and was offset, which caused the valve to get stuck and fail to open… 3. In the case of the cylinder-type, single-acting valve, the spring had aged and lost its strength, so it couldn’t close; there was also no bypass function. Eventually, it was manually modified to a double-acting version, and now it works fine. 4.
