Why not insert it directly into the tank from the top? I think there are two reasons for this design: 1. The tank contains equipment such as agitators, which makes it difficult to install a guided-wave rod radar level gauge. 2. Installing it in this way facilitates disconnecting the instrument from the system, making maintenance easier. However, in the case of cooling water tanks, these two factors are not present. The tank has a small volume, resulting in large fluctuations in the liquid level during loading and unloading, which affects the measurement accuracy. Therefore, a bypass pipe is used to install the level gauge. The bypass flange design allows not only the installation of radar level gauges but also other types of level gauges, such as float level gauges and magnetostrictive level gauges.

It’s also possible that your tank is too small; the original level gauge isn’t suitable for it. Once the tank is built, it’s no longer possible to install a guided wave tube, which is why an external floating ball guided wave radar was used instead. In my opinion, a floating ball level gauge would have been sufficient……

Float and magnetic flap level gauges are the most economical. For greater accuracy, immersion-type level gauges, capacitive sensors, and radio frequency admittance level gauges are all relatively inexpensive.
