I’ve just started working at a chemical plant as an instrument technician. I’ve noticed that a few technicians who have been there for over a year keep adjusting the distance between the nozzles after installing the new intelligent positioners. The valve is a single-seat valve with a rating of 150, and it is a air-operated shut-off valve. After it was installed, a 100% operation signal was given. It only runs at around 85%. I asked them why they didn’t self-tune first before proceeding. They said it can’t be done that way. . . It might not work. . . Then we spent 3 hours there without getting it done. . . If you move it a little too much, the opening becomes incorrect. . . I remember that when we installed it before, it self-tuned to this state, and it was basically accurate to within 80-90%. The spacing between the nozzles should only be cleaned when there is water and oil present. Things are not going well now; they’ve passed the problem on to me. I’d like to ask the experts how I can adjust this spacing so that everything works properly.
Which brand is the smart locator you are referring to? YTC? Fisher? Fosse?

You mentioned adjusting the nozzle; isn’t it mechanical in nature?
Are there any pictures? The Yamaki locator has not been disassembled yet; all we know is that it also has a nozzle baffle structure
The Yamaki positioner has always been self-tuning, and the nozzle has never been adjusted.
