What is the medium of the pre-desilication mother liquor? What is the pH value approximately? Can an electromagnetic flowmeter be used? For the lining, must it be PFA lining, or can a tetrafluoro lining be used as a substitute?
The pre-desilication mother liquor is usually an alkaline solution containing silicates and other impurities, with a generally high pH, possibly above 11. An electromagnetic flowmeter can be used to measure flow, but the appropriate lining material must be selected based on the specific composition. Normally, PFA lining is chosen due to its excellent chemical and temperature resistance, but if cost or other factors are important considerations, a tetrafluoro lining can be considered, as long as it can withstand the chemical properties and operating temperatures of the pre-desilication mother liquor. The material selection must be based on the actual operating conditions. .
Electromagnetic flowmeters can be used for this purpose; when the medium contains a high level of solids, electromagnetic flowmeters with dual-frequency excitation, mixed excitation, or AC excitation are generally considered, such as those from Yokogawa and Kolon. Care should be taken when selecting the lining; the temperature at the measurement points must be taken into account, along with factors such as corrosion resistance, temperature, and diameter. Not all manufacturers are able to produce PFA linings for very large diameters. Additionally, with electromagnets, the issue of scarring may need to be taken into account; but overall, electromagnets remain the better option!
