Liquid ammonia is generally considered a major hazard source, requiring more than two level measurement systems: for remote monitoring, dual-flange systems can be used, while on-site measurement can employ magnetic flap gauge systems. Make sure that the magnetic flip plate is properly insulated or cooled, as liquid ammonia tends to vaporize easily. Exposure to intense sunlight during summer can cause the liquid ammonia inside the magnetic flip plate to boil rapidly, pushing up the float and resulting in an abnormal display on the magnetic flip plate. . .
With double flanges, wouldn’t the pressure of liquid ammonia become unstable as the temperature changes?
Guided wave radar will work, but the price is likely to be slightly higher than that of double flange types. Dual-flange measurement is used; for higher precision, pressure and temperature compensation can be added. If the pressure is not high, guided wave radar can also be used.
Remote dual-flange, radar, magnetostrictive level gauges, or external-mounted level gauges can all be used; local magnetic flip-type level gauges as well
