Is it feasible to use a capillary pressure transmitter with a tantalum diaphragm, filled with silicone oil, for pressure measurement in a fluidized bed reactor where the medium contains chlorine gas and the temperature is 150 degrees? Should fluorinated oil be applied? Additionally, the operating temperature for fluorine oil is between -10 and 60 degrees; how is heat retention ensured in winter?
At high temperatures, chlorine reacts violently with silicone oil; the possibility of rupture at the membrane connections must be considered, so silicone oil should not be used
When encountering problematic gases, one option is to hold back the liquid so as not to come into contact with them while taking measurements; another option is to lower the temperature for measurement. By using a regular pressure gauge and taking indirect approaches, high-level safety and reliability in measurements can still be achieved. How to choose the right material for the diaphragm is the key point. Your assumption is both plausible and implausible; it’s as if you’re saying: What if the pipe leaks?
