Regarding the issue of installing valves or vanes at the compressor inlet

On the intake port of compressors, some are equipped with valves or vanes etc. to adjust the compressor’s load, while others do not have such devices at the intake port. Is this related to the type of compressor or is it based on some other considerations?
I need to ask the compressor manufacturer about this
To protect the motor, they are generally designed with centrifugal exhaust fans or blowers
Guide vanes are installed in general centrifugal compressors and centrifugal fans, primarily to enable energy-efficient operation
