The switch valve on our loading dock uses springs at both ends of the intermediate cylinder. One solenoid valve supplies air to the middle cylinder, while another solenoid valve supplies air to the spring chambers on both sides. When the valve is opened, it first opens by one-third before opening fully. How is it achieved?
Microcomputer control can be achieved using PLCs or DCS. There is a valve positioner on the valve body; the solenoid valve is used to control the opening and closing of the valve in a safe manner. In the event of a power loss, it enables the valve to close immediately.
It should be turned to one-third, then fully open; when turning it off, reduce it to one-third first, and then turn it off completely. This is a four-stage cut-off valve with a different internal structure; the manufacturer will customize it according to your requirements. If it is not a four-stage cut-off valve but rather a two-stage one, then a PLC program change will be necessary to control the timing of the valve’s opening and closing. We used to be in this situation as well: it was supposed to be a four-stage setup, but the manager ordered a two-stage version instead, so we could only control it by adjusting the switching time of the solenoid valve.
