Some control valves are equipped with solenoids, while others do not. What is the difference?
Another function of the solenoid valve is to control the self-regulating valve; by changing the state of power supply to the solenoid valve, it alters the effect of the instrument air on the control valve, thereby enabling the valve to open and close rapidly and automatically. It is mainly set up for security reasons. For example, in the event of a power outage, some valves need to be opened fully immediately to release the material. There are also cases where it needs to be turned off completely immediately to prevent overpressure. Depending on the air intake direction of the cylinder (diaphragm head) on the self-regulating valve, configurations such as air-operated open, air-operated closed, open when powered and closed when de-energized are provided. In simple terms, control valves equipped with solenoids are generally linked to the device’s interlocks or special control circuits, and they need to return to a specific state (fully open or fully closed) under certain conditions.
