If reliable grounding cannot be achieved on-site, it should be left ungrounded to remain floating. Poor grounding can instead easily introduce interference.
Additional note: According to the latest petrochemical grounding standards, for instruments located in non-explosive areas, protection grounding is not required if the supply voltage is below 36V. Connect the three instrument posts to the cable tray using copper wires of 16 square millimeters or larger, and connect the instrument enclosures to the posts using copper wires of 4 square millimeters. The shielding of the wiring signal wires inside these three combustible gas alarms should be cut off and not connected (to avoid circulating currents); the shielding at the control room end should be connected to a dedicated instrument signal grounding bus that is suspended inside the cabinet, with this bus being fed by the instrument signal grounding electrode.
