For the flow measurement of flare gas throughout the plant, where the flow rate and composition vary significantly, what type of flow meter would be suitable for use?
Is an external densitometer needed to compensate for changes in composition, and are temperature and pressure compensation also required?
How accurate are mass flow meters?
1. GE claims to be able to use patented technology to measure the molecular weight of flare gas, and by compensating for temperature and pressure, the gas density can be calculated, thereby determining the mass flow rate. 2. Temperature and pressure compensation is required. 3. Mass flow meters are also used to measure the flow rate of flare gas; thermal mass flow meters are employed for this purpose, utilizing dual probes to enable flow measurement over both low and high range values. They are mainly used for flare emissions at the plant level, where the flow rate is not very high. For the flare gas flow rate throughout the plant, given the high flow volume and large range ratio, it is recommended to use ultrasonic flow meters.
The estimated pipelines across the entire plant are quite large; Anubagacha variable control as well as temperature and pressure compensation can be considered. A thermal mass flow meter can also be considered.
It’s a great product, but it’s just too expensive. My previous employer wanted to purchase one, but they gave up due to the high price.
FCI says it can be measured, but the details are unclear.
Which one is better to use? Can you talk about it?
