Experts, take a look – is there something wrong with the schematic of the solenoid valve here? Thanks for the discussion.
The direction is reversed; when this NC-type solenoid valve loses power, the air in the cylinder as indicated by the diagram gets trapped and cannot flow out.
Why does the arrow on the solenoid coil section seem to point towards the air source section?
I think the actuator you’ve drawn is a bit strange. If it’s a fork-type actuator, it doesn’t quite fit either – fork-type actuators don’t require an air supply pipe in the middle. If what you’ve drawn is a gear and rack type, single-acting actuator, then air supply is sufficient in the middle; so what’s the need for solenoid valves on both sides? I can’t understand it
This post was last edited by feng*aosa on 2022-6-12 at 15:57. Yes. The key point is that your actuator is a single-acting actuator with an auxiliary piston (equipped with a valve position lock). Solenoid valve 1 is used to control the locking piston, while the normal valve position is controlled by solenoid valve 2. Refer to the figure below: ◇ When solenoid valve 1 is pressurized, the spring seat of the main piston is positioned at the location shown in the figure; at this time, solenoid valve 2 controls the opening and closing of the valve ; ◇ When the air supply to the auxiliary piston is interrupted, the auxiliary piston cannot maintain its position relative to the spring seat, causing the spring seat to move downward (which is equivalent to the spring no longer functioning). Because there is no spring force, the valve position will remain in place (locked). ◇ The other side of the actuator moves in the opposite direction; the process can be analyzed on its own.
Overall, there are no issues; however, in terms of details, the position of the interface for the actuator’s auxiliary cylinder and the location of the air source for operating the solenoid valve are incorrect.
What I don’t understand is that when this solenoid valve is powered on, the arrow points towards the air supply side (the arrow is to the right); shouldn’t the arrow point to the left instead?
