They are often used for storing hazardous substances that are under pressure, require strong corrosion resistance, or are flammable and explosive. Due to their large volume capacity, non-contact radar level gauges are typically used for measuring these tanks, with a maximum measurement range of 30 meters and an accuracy of ±3 mm. Vertical tanks are commonly used in the chemical industry to store media at atmospheric pressure. Their capacity range is quite large, typically between 10 and 30 m, and they often have internal floating roofs. When selecting a radar level gauge, it is necessary to consider whether there is a guide wave tube inside the tank; for tanks with guide wave tubes, contact-type guide wave radar level gauges can be used, while for those without such tubes, non-contact radar level gauges can be employed. Process tanks have always represented a challenge in the chemical industry.
