For honeycomb activated carbon and granular activated carbon, why is granular activated carbon used for desulfurization and similar processes while honeycomb activated carbon is not?
Should the problem be addressed by using granular activated carbon instead of honeycomb carbon? The main issues are strength and price; columnar activated carbon has advantages in terms of strength and price over honeycomb carbon.
Activated carbon for desulfurization is primarily considered in the context of desulfurization units; the particle size or granularity requirements for activated carbon are determined at the design stage of such units. Generally speaking, the desulfurization devices used in existing steel mills in China were adopted from abroad, and therefore the requirements for activated carbon used in desulfurization there are also those from foreign countries.
