In pulverized coal gasification, why is steam combined with oxygen used as the gasifying agent? What is the role of adding oxygen?

Steam is added to save energy and improve temperature control, making full use of the hydrogen and oxygen produced by steam decomposition. Adding oxygen is mainly to increase the calorific value of gas.
What was said on the fourth floor is correct – it serves to control the temperature. In principle, there is also a process in which it reacts with carbon to produce hydrogen, but this may occur in small amounts and isn’t very noticeable in crude gas
