There are currently two approaches for whitening flue gas from coking desulfurization and denitration processes: 1) flue gas condensation at the outlet of the desulfurization tower plus flue gas reheating; 2) a spray cooling tower plus GGH. Which approach is more preferable? Everyone is welcome to discuss

It is recommended to carry out desulfurization first and then denitrification; the moving-bed process is cost-effective and operates stably. Dry desulfurization results in a very low temperature, eliminates the need for whitening, and is also beneficial for denitrification
The technically economic alternative options should be determined based on the project scale and on-site configuration; there is no one-size-fits-all approach.
Option 1 is better: condensation plus reheating, as the condensation process reduces pollutants in the flue gas, and the condensed water can be reused. Option 2 poses the risk of increased resistance due to scaling in the GGH. For such low-sulfur conditions, the most thorough solution is to use dry desulfurization and dust removal, thereby eliminating the problems related to wastewater and flue gas emissions
Currently, dry or semi-dry desulfurization is generally used, followed by dust removal and nitrogen oxide removal. Dry desulfurization results in high flue gas temperatures, so there is no issue of flue gas whitening.
