I need help. Our plant has 5.5-meter coke ovens, and in recent days the hydrogen sulfide level in front of the tower has reached 17.4 g/NM3. There are no significant fluctuations in the parameters of the coal used. What other factors could be causing such high levels of hydrogen sulfide in front of the tower?

After ruling out errors or mistakes in testing, if it’s not caused by issues related to coal, then it’s necessary to check whether there is any blockage in the spraying system of the primary cooler, as well as whether the electric tar catcher is operating properly. This can be verified by checking whether the parameters after passing through the blower are normal. In addition, check whether the gas pre-cooling system is operating properly, and whether there are any changes in the hydrogen sulfide content in the gas after the pre-cooling tower; it is very likely that the hydrogen sulfide levels after the pre-cooling tower are also abnormal.
