The technology is mature; there are now projects that produce methanol abroad while manufacturing MTO domestically.
In my opinion, catalysts need to be improved to address the issue of fine powders that cannot be separated by centrifugation; Filters need to be improved to address the issue of solid content in water

The breadth of MTO process technology is not very large; The core of MTO lies in the reaction and regeneration units; the rest, such as the three towers and the waste heat recovery system, do not involve much technical complexity. The operation is also a bit simpler.
Catalyst loss and blockages in heat exchange equipment lead to a reduced heat exchange efficiency, thereby lowering profitability.
For now, it’s acceptable, especially the coal-related projects.
