The aim was to enhance the company’s competitiveness and expand the range of applications for its products. Recently, the company successfully completed the project to improve the quality of pure methanol in the methanol distillation unit of the dimethyl ether plant, as well as the energy-saving renovation of the alcohol processing system. With the completion of the renovation of this project, a transition from the production of crude methanol to that of refined methanol was achieved, effectively reducing steam consumption and the ethanol content in the product. It increased the production capacity of the distillation unit and reduced production costs. The project to improve the quality of pure methanol produced by the methanol distillation unit and to implement energy-saving upgrades to the alcohol processing system is scheduled to begin in December 2021, with a construction period of 7 days. The main tasks involve replacing the internal components of the pre-distillation tower, pressure tower, and atmospheric pressure tower in the methanol distillation unit; making openings in the equipment of the pre-distillation tower and installing pipes for adding alkaline solution; modifying the gas outlet pipes at the top of the pressure tower; adding a gas outlet from the buffer tank in the pre-distillation tower to port D of the reflux tank in the pressure tower; setting up a new outlet from the pure methanol output of the reboiler in the atmospheric pressure tower to the buffer tank in the pre-distillation tower; installing a new methanol transfer pump at the inlet of the reflux tank in the pressure tower; adding drain pipes to connect the gas outlet pipes of the pressure tower to the inlet of the reboiler in the atmospheric pressure tower; cleaning the tubes of condensers I and II in the pre-distillation tower; cleaning the tubes of the product cooler in the atmospheric pressure tower; and cleaning the tubes of condenser AB at the top of the atmospheric pressure tower. There are more than a dozen such renovation and maintenance tasks to be carried out.
It increased the production capacity of the distillation unit and reduced production costs.
