With a total investment of 5.06 billion yuan, three major coal chemical projects in Shanxi have commenced construction simultaneously. Source: Refining and Chemical Industry News, Date: 2021-03-11, Clicks: 10. I. The Shengxin project, which includes 1.6 million tons per year of coking capacity, along with 200,000 tons per year of methanol production and 60,000 tons per year of ammonia production. Project investment: 2.3 billion yuan. Nature of construction: New construction. Scope of construction: 2×65-chamber JNX3-70-2 type 7.0 m large top-loading coke ovens; installation of equipment for coal preparation, coke storage and transportation, dry quenching for power generation, gas purification, compression and conversion, methanol synthesis, hydrogen extraction from off-gases, and ammonia synthesis; in addition, auxiliary production facilities and environmental protection facilities will also be built. It is expected that once full production and efficiency are achieved, annual sales revenue of 5 billion yuan and profits and taxes of 800 million yuan can be generated, while 1,000 new jobs will be created. II. Kexin Carbon Materials Co., Ltd.’s 300,000 t/a coal tar deep processing project: Project investment: 167 million yuan. Nature of construction: New construction. Construction contents include a tar distillation unit, washing and decomposition facilities, an industrial naphthalene distillation unit, a modified asphalt production unit, intermediate storage tanks, product storage tanks, a raw oil warehouse, an asphalt underwater molding system, exhaust gas incineration facilities, as well as various auxiliary and supporting systems. III. Linxin Coal Coking Project: A coking facility with an annual capacity of 1.7 million tons, along with a methanol production unit capable of producing 200,000 tons per year and a synthetic ammonia plant that can produce 60,000 tons per year. Project investment: 2.6 billion yuan. Nature of construction: Extension of existing facilities. Construction details: The construction of the methanol and synthetic ammonia production units includes equipment for compressing coke oven gas, dry desulfurization and steam reforming, compressing syngas, synthesizing methanol, distilling methanol, extracting hydrogen from methanol off-gases along with compressing nitrogen, carrying out methanation, compressing hydrogen, nitrogen and recycle gas, as well as equipment for ammonia synthesis and ammonia refrigeration. The associated coking facility will include 2 large top-loading coke ovens of the JNX3-70-2 type with a capacity of 7.0 meters each, along with 220 t/h quenching systems, and will utilize corresponding production processes.
