Recently, Jinchengtai Chemical Co., Ltd.’s 300,000-ton/year coal-based ethylene glycol production project resumed construction in the Sulihe Economic Development Zone, Tuk Town, Wushen Banner, Inner Mongolia. In order to optimize the industrial structure of coal deep processing and expand the range of coal chemical products, Ordos Jinchengtai Chemical Co., Ltd. is constructing a second-phase project for the production of 300,000 tons per year of ethylene glycol on the vacant land within the 600,000 tons per year coal-to-methanol production facility located in the Sulihe Economic Development Zone in Tuk Town, Wushen Banner. The total investment for this project is 3.175 billion yuan, with production scheduled to begin in 2021. The project uses coal as raw material, employs the GE coal slurry gasification process to produce H2 and CO required for the production of ethylene glycol, and synthesizes ethylene glycol through a production process for converting syngas into ethylene glycol jointly developed by Whiting Engineering (China) Co., Ltd. and Tianjin University.
