In February 2019, Hangzhou Linda Chemical Technology Engineering Co., Ltd. signed a contract with Henan Junhua Development Co., Ltd. for the design and supply of Unit 1# shift reactor for the synthetic ammonia plant; this reactor is of the coil-type water-cooled heat-transfer design, replacing the existing straight-tube shift reactors. This project uses gas produced by the space furnace powder coal gasification as raw material to produce 300,000 tons of synthetic ammonia. The raw gas is characterized by a high CO concentration and a high water-gas ratio; as a result, the reaction rate is fast and the amount of heat released is large. The original No. 1 water-cooled heat transfer shift converter experienced severe overheating during operation, which clearly demonstrates the fast reaction rate and high heat release associated with the gas produced by the space furnace powder coal gasification, as well as the high requirements placed on the heat transfer capacity of such converters. After taking on this project, Linda Company utilized its technical expertise in the field of reactors along with its successful experience in conversion engineering to develop a new structure for conversion furnaces.
