On April 11, the 30MW turbine unit of the thermoelectric plant part of the Yanzhou Coal Yulin Polydimethyl ether project, contracted by China National Chemical Engineering Corporation Tianchen, was successfully started up; it operated at a rated speed of 3000 revolutions per minute and was able to maintain that speed steadily. All performance indicators of the unit were excellent, marking a partial success in the overall commissioning process of the unit. The 500,000 tons per year DMMn project at Yulin Energy Chemicals is accompanied by a 800,000 tons per year methanol project for which an investment of 3.656 billion yuan was made; the process equipment and auxiliary systems for these projects were contracted out to Tianchen Company for overall construction. The gasification unit employs a new type of multi-nozzle opposed water-coal slurry gasification technology owned by Yankuang Group; the semi-waste boiler process enables an improvement of 5% in the efficiency of water-gas production ； The air separation unit adopts Air Liquide’s technology and consists of one set with a capacity of 92,000 Nm3/h (O2) and one backup system; it is currently the largest air separation unit in Shaanxi Province ； The distillation plant uses a five-tank, three-effect process, with a daily processing capacity of 5,000 tons of pure methanol. It consumes approximately 0.8 tons of steam per ton of pure methanol produced, which represents a 50% reduction in steam usage compared to traditional processes; it is currently the largest distillation plant in China. At 17:56 on December 28, 2019, the 800,000-ton-per-year methanol production unit, which is part of the country’s largest coal-based polydimethyl methoxide production project currently under construction – the 500,000-ton-per-year polydimethyl methoxide (DMMn) production project operated by Yanzhou Coal Industry Yulin Energy Chemical Co., Ltd. – was successfully commissioned. This enabled the entire production process to operate smoothly, resulting in the production of qualified methanol.
