Price trend This week, the price of dimethyl ether in the domestic market fluctuated upward. At the beginning of the week, the average price of dimethyl ether in the Henan market in China was 3,383.33 yuan per ton, while it was 3,400 yuan per ton by the end of the week; the increase during that week was 0.49%, with prices falling by 24.86% compared to the same period last year. II. Market Analysis Product: This week, the market price of dimethyl ether in Henan saw an overall increase, with moderate trading activity in the market. As of May 10, the dimethyl ether plants of Hebei Yutai, Henan Qinyang Shengxin, Henan Yima Xinyuan, and Shandong Yuhuang are shut down for maintenance, and no quotes can be provided at the moment. The ex-factory price of dimethyl ether at Henan Lankao Huitong is 3,280 yuan per ton; the ex-factory price at Hebei Jichun Chemical Co., Ltd. is 3,300 yuan per ton. The ex-factory price at Shandong Dezhou Shengdeyuan Company is 3,250 yuan per ton, while the ex-factory price at Shanxi Lanhua Technology Entrepreneurship Co., Ltd. is 3,230 yuan per ton. Industry chain: The domestic methanol market showed weak performance this week. At the beginning of the week, the average price of methanol in the domestic market was 2,179 yuan per ton; by the end of the week it had risen to 2,248 yuan per ton, representing a weekly increase of 3.21%. However, this price is still 22.45% lower than it was during the same period last year. This week, the domestic liquefied gas market in Shandong saw prices rise first before stabilizing. The average price in the domestic liquefied gas market at the beginning of the week was 4,466.67 yuan per ton, while it rose to 4,506.67 yuan per ton by the end of the week; thus, there was a 0.9% increase during the week, with prices being 8.2% higher compared to the same period last year. At present, some manufacturing facilities in Henan are still under maintenance; the favorable supply situation has boosted the market, leading to a slight increase in prices at the start of the week. However, international crude oil prices have been volatile this week, and the weak trends in the markets for methanol and liquefied gas have contributed to a negative sentiment in the market. The new round of restocking downstream has ended, and enthusiasm for entering the market is low. In the latter part of the week, manufacturers continued to face difficulties in shipping goods, resulting in high inventory pressures and successive price cuts. Industry: According to the price monitoring by Business News, in the 18th week of 2019 (May 6–10), there were 8 commodities in the energy sector whose prices increased on a week-on-week basis. The top 3 commodities in terms of percentage increase were coke (3.70%), methanol (3.21%), and liquefied natural gas (1.10%). There were 8 commodities that experienced a decline on a month-on-month basis, with the top three in terms of decline rate being MTBE (-1.09%), naphtha (-0.90%), and asphalt (-0.68%).
