Sanning Chemical’s Ethylene Glycol Project Updates: Equipment installation in the purification and synthesis area begins Author/Source: Sanning Chemical Date: 2019-08-08 Clicks: 7 On the afternoon of August 5, at the ethylene glycol construction site, the exhaust gas scrubber unit in the low-temperature methanol washing section of the purification and synthesis area was transported from the banks of the Yangtze River to beside its foundation using an unmanned “ant vehicle”; it was then lifted into place on the same day. With the final anchor bolt tightened, the installation of the first piece of equipment in the ethylene glycol purification and synthesis area was successfully completed in one go! During the actual lifting process, difficulties such as limited turning space beside the exhaust gas scrubber foundation and poor bearing capacity of the ground were encountered, posing significant challenges to the deployment of lifting equipment and the arrangement of cranes. In addition, factors such as the lugs not being positioned horizontally during equipment loading onto the ship, as well as the large diameter of the equipment resulting in a large wind exposure area, further complicated matters. To overcome these issues, Chen Yongjun, the project manager, worked together with technicians from the lifting company and installation staff from Thirteenth Chemical Construction Company to develop a site-specific lifting plan. This plan took into full account factors such as the selection of the lifting location and the length of the lifting arms, the arrangement of vehicles and equipment, as well as safety measures during the lifting process, ensuring that all preparations for the lifting operation were in place. The first lift of equipment for the purification and synthesis area signifies that the facility has officially entered the equipment installation phase.
