On June 12, the inauguration ceremony for the main plant area of Jutai Energy (Ordos) Co., Ltd.’s project with an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons of ethylene glycol was held at the project site. On March 12, 2019, JiuTai Energy (Ordos) Co., Ltd. issued the first public notice regarding the environmental impact assessment for its expansion project aimed at increasing the annual production of ethylene glycol to 500,000 tons. In January 2015, the Environmental Impact Assessment Report for JiuTai Energy (Ordos) Co., Ltd.’s project to produce 50×104 tons of ethylene glycol per year was approved by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Environmental Protection Department under document No. Neihuan Shen 7. On July 31, 2018, the Environmental Impact Assessment Report for JiuTai Energy (Ordos) Co., Ltd.’s project to produce 500,000 tons of ethylene glycol per year (with modifications) was approved by the Ordos Environmental Protection Bureau in document No. E-HUI-PING-135. Following the changes, the nature, location, and scale of the project remain unchanged; however, the gasification unit, methanol plant, ethylene glycol plant, wastewater treatment facilities, and boiler room have been altered. The production process has been changed to pressurized coal gasification along with the hydroformylation method for producing ethylene glycol.
