Recently, the steam stripping tower No. 2 of the diborol unit in the Dongjing BDO project in Inner Mongolia, which was constructed under the EPC contract by Beijing Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd., was successfully installed in its intended location. It is reported that the stripping tower weighs 97 tons and has a height of 35.5 meters. The lifting process required passing over the BYD (1,4-butynediol) distillation framework, which is 35 meters high; moreover, the path taken for lifting was only 2 centimeters away from the nearest part of the building. This makes it one of the most challenging pieces of equipment to lift in this entire project. On May 20, 2021, the groundbreaking ceremony for the 200,000-ton per year BDO production project of Inner Mongolia Dongjing Bio-Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. was held on the premises of Inner Mongolia Dongyuan Technology Co., Ltd., marking the official start of construction of this project. The project is located to the north of Phase I of Inner Mongolia Dongyuan Technology. It covers an area of approximately 150,000 square meters (225 mu). The total investment in the project amounts to 2.94 billion yuan. It is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in 2022. The project utilizes **Guanda Technology; by making use of locally available resources such as lime, electricity, and coal, it establishes an integrated circular economic industrial development model with 1,4-butanediol (BDO) as its core component. Upon completion of the project, Dongyuan Technology BDO’s maximum production capacity will reach 400,000 tons. Beijing Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shaanxi Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd., signed an EPC contract for the 200,000 tons per year 1,4-butanediol integrated project of Inner Mongolia Dongjing Bio-Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. Contract amount: 25,0600.00 million yuan, with a contract duration of 20 months. The scope of the project includes the production of acetylene from raw material calcium carbide, hydrogen production, and formaldehyde production, as well as the manufacture of high-quality 1,4-butanediol. It mainly comprises an acetylene plant, a formaldehyde facility, a natural gas-based hydrogen production unit, a butanediol plant, and the necessary auxiliary production facilities, all designed to meet the demand of the first-phase project with an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of 1,4-butanediol.
