Successful Commissioning of Nanjing Chengzhi’s 100,000-ton/year Butadiene Plant by Huisheng Engineering Co., Ltd. (“Nanjing Chengzhi Yongqing”), which was developed under the technical guidance of Huisheng Engineering Co., Ltd. and underwent EPC contracting, was successfully commissioned, producing high-quality butadiene products. This project is the second commercial application of Whiting’s technology and catalysts for the oxidation-dehydrogenation of butylene to produce butadiene; it also marks Whiting’s first implementation of an integrated technology approach that combines MTO with butadiene production. Its successful commissioning marks another successful commercial application of Huisheng Engineering’s own technology, and it represents an important milestone in the company’s technological research and development efforts. This set of equipment was delivered to high standards on May 8, 2019. Following intensive and organized pre-production preparations and debugging, feeding began for oxidation dehydrogenation at 1:45 on August 7; it took less than 5 days to get the entire process up and running ; On August 11 at 15:00, high-quality butadiene product with a purity of 99.9% was produced ; The unit was started successfully on its first attempt, breaking the industry record for startup time of similar units. This butadiene technology and catalyst were independently developed by Huisheng Engineering in 2013. In the first plant equipped with this technology, the catalyst maintained high activity for over 3,000 hours of continuous operation in 2016 without the need for regeneration; the conversion rate of n-butylene was 80.0%, the selectivity for butadiene was around 93%, and the yield was over 74%. This not only saved a significant amount of equipment costs for the operators but also reduced the production cost per ton of butadiene by 1,400 RMB, thereby enhancing economic efficiency significantly.
