Rongxin Chemical’s circular economy demonstration project for coal-based ethylene glycol and polyoxydimethyl ether to begin operation in October Author/Source: Yaha Coal Chemical Industry Date: 2019-08-09 Clicks: 31 The circular economy demonstration project of Inner Mongolia Rongxin Chemical Co., Ltd., located in the Dalat Economic Development Zone, which aims to produce 400,000 tons of coal-based ethylene glycol and 300,000 tons of polyoxydimethyl ether per year, is scheduled to start operations in October this year. It is reported that the total estimated investment for this project is 7.68 billion yuan, with a land area of 1,268 mu. Construction officially began in November 2017 under the EPC general contracting model. By the end of July, the civil work for the project was largely completed; 98% of the steel structure installation was finished, 93% of the process piping welding was completed, and 75% of the equipment installation was done ; 48% of the single-unit trial operation has been completed, with 4.54 billion yuan already invested. All preparatory work, including personnel, technology, materials, external conditions, marketing, and product storage and transportation, is essentially finished ahead of the trial operation with actual materials fed into the system. The 400,000-ton coal-to-ethylene glycol and 300,000-ton polyoxymethylenemethane circular economy demonstration project of Inner Mongolia Rongxin Chemical Co., Ltd. is another major project undertaken by the company to extend its industrial chain and promote the clean utilization of coal, building on its initial 600,000-ton coal-to-methanol project. Upon completion of the project, it is expected to generate annual profits and taxes of 1 billion yuan and provide employment for over 600 people. On June 30, the synthetic distillation unit and ethylene glycol unit under construction as part of Rongxin Chemical’s Phase II project completed successful water-driven commissioning tests. This successful completion of the process flows at the end of the system marked the entry of the entire Phase II system into the debugging phase. The 400,000-ton coal-to-ethylene glycol and 300,000-ton polyoxymethylenemethane circular economy demonstration project of Inner Mongolia Rongxin Chemical Co., Ltd. is located in the Sanyangliang Industrial Park in Dalaat Banner, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It represents a major project undertaken by the company to extend its industrial chain and promote the clean utilization of coal, building on its existing 900,000-ton coal-to-methanol production facility from the first phase. The total investment in the project is 7.68 billion yuan, and construction began in August 2017. Using coal as raw material and the four-nozzle gasification technology developed by East China University of Science and Technology, the project produces CO and H2 required for the production of ethylene glycol, as well as syngas needed for methanol synthesis; ethylene glycol is synthesized via an indirect method, while DMMn is synthesized indirectly from methanol. Among them, the ethylene glycol plant signed EPC general contract agreements for the project with China Fifth Ring Engineering Co., Ltd. and Huashuo Technology Co., Ltd.
