The two-fluidized-bed super-large-scale pulverized coal gasification (KSY) technology, developed through collaboration and leadership by the Yanchang Petroleum (Group) Co., Ltd. High-Efficiency Hydrocarbon Utilization Technology Research Center and KBR Company, passed the technical achievement appraisal organized by the Shaanxi Chemical Industry Society on August 21. The appraisal committee consisted of a panel of seven experts, including He Yongde, honorary president of the Shaanxi Chemical Industry Society; the head of the panel was Men Cungui, former chief engineer of Sinopec’s refining and chemical division. Li Dapeng, the chief coal chemical expert at Yanchang Petroleum, the leadership team of the Hydrocarbon Research Center, and the heads of relevant departments attended the meeting. The experts present listened to a presentation by the R&D team at the Carbon Hydrogen Efficient Utilization Technology Research Center of Yanchang Petroleum Group on the KSY technology. They asked detailed questions about the technology development and calibration processes. After these inquiries and responses, it was concluded that this technology has successfully developed a sequential reaction system using the first and second reactors, enabling effective control over the temperature field, flow field, and circulation rate. As a result, the gasification operation temperature can be raised to levels close to or equal to the melting point of coal ash, thereby significantly improving the gasification efficiency ; A numerical model of a dual-circulation fluidized bed was developed to reveal the complex gas-solid two-phase flow, heat and mass transfer, as well as the characteristics of the gasification reaction within the reactor ; Fluidized bed waste boiler technology was successfully developed for the first time in the pressurized coal gasification process ; An intelligent control system based on dual-circulation fluidized bed gasification has been developed. This technology is original and is at the international leading level overall; it is recommended to accelerate its industrialization and demonstration. It is reported that since October 2016, the R&D team for the dual-bed super-large-scale powder coal gasification (KSY) technology has conducted 9 system feeding tests using a pilot plant with a capacity of 100 tons per day. More than 400 technical improvements have been made, 33 patents were applied for, and 16 of them were granted. The successful development of the dual-fluidized-bed ultra-large-scale coal-to-gasification (KSY) technology holds great strategic significance for the clean and efficient utilization of coal, ensuring **strategic energy security**, and promoting the transformation and upgrading of the **energy industry**.
