Shaanxi’s 500,000-ton coal tar deep processing project to enter 168-hour trial operation Author/Source: Northwest Electric Power Construction Company No.1 Date: 12-30-2019 Clicks: 114 On December 29, the turbine of Unit 2 of the coal tar deep processing and multi-product integrated utilization project in Shaanxi, undertaken by Northwest Electric Power Construction Company No.1, successfully completed 3,000 revolutions on its first attempt. It created favorable conditions for the successful completion of the next 168-hour trial operation of the unit. It is reported that the project is located in the Jinjie Industrial Park in Shenmu City, Shaanxi Province. For this project, a total of 3 high-temperature and high-pressure circulating fluidized bed boilers with a steam flow rate of 240 tons per hour, a pressure of 9.81 MPa, and a temperature of 540°C, manufactured by Wuxi Huaguang Boiler Co., Ltd., were installed, along with 2 high-pressure double-extraction direct air-cooled condensing steam turbines of the CCZK50-8.83/4.3/1.3 type, produced by Nanjing Turbine Factory. The pipeline system within the power station boundary area was designed by China Coal Xi’an Design Engineering Co., Ltd. The piping system uses a master pipe layout. Once completed, this project will not only meet the heat and steam demands of the chemical production area within the factory, but also satisfy the needs of local power development. It will significantly alleviate employment pressures in the region. Additionally, it will improve centralized heating conditions, which is important for enhancing energy efficiency, achieving increased production while reducing pollution, and greatly improving the regional environmental quality. It will also play a vital role in promoting the development of circular economy industries, economic and social progress, as well as urban development in this area. The 500,000 tons per year coal tar deep processing and multi-product integrated utilization project employs advanced technologies with independent intellectual property rights, developed specifically for the characteristics of coal tar. The core technology consists of a combination of boiling-bed hydrogenation for quality improvement of full-range coal tar and fixed-bed hydrocracking; using medium- and low-temperature coal tar as raw material, it primarily produces high-value aromatic chemical products. The project covers an area of about 1,200 mu, with an estimated investment of around 4.6 billion yuan. Construction of the project officially began in August 2017, and it is now in the final stages of design, civil works and safety preparations, as well as equipment installation. Completion and commissioning are expected by the end of October 2019. The projects mainly include: a 550,000-ton/year coal tar pretreatment unit, a 500,000-ton/year coal tar fluidized-bed hydrocracking unit, a 450,000-ton/year coal tar fixed-bed hydrocracking unit, a 400,000-ton/year naphtha continuous reforming unit, a 170,000-ton/year aromatic extraction unit, a 50,000 cubic meters per hour coal-to-hydrogen unit, a 50,000 cubic meters per hour air separation unit, a 100,000-ton/year methanol synthesis unit, as well as related supporting facilities such as hydrogen purification (PSA) units, sulfur recovery units, phenol-amine recovery units, storage and transportation systems, and other auxiliary and environmental protection systems.
