What factors can be used for this determination, such as the temperature of the combustion furnace and the temperature of the reactor bed? (This is for determining cases where the presence of hydrocarbons in the acid gas is not severe.) Please share your opinions actively; points will be awarded
Many acidic gases contain hydrocarbons, mainly related to the gasification process. The treatment method is also good; the harm to sulfur recovery is significant
Take a sample of the acidic gas for testing; it seems that the presence of hydrocarbons raises the temperature in the furnace, but the temperature in the reactor does not increase much. Additionally, the pressure at the burner end is high, as is the overall system pressure.
By the time sampling and analysis are carried out, it’s usually too late! In most cases, judgments are made based on production data; sampling is merely used for further verification!
In fact, at the initial stage of hydrocarbon processing, the plants generally operate with a slight excess of air supply; as a result, the oxygen content is slightly high and the temperature rises for a short period. However, since the air supply cannot be increased quickly, the oxygen is used up rapidly and the temperature drops. When there is a lack of oxygen, the conversion rate of hydrogen sulfide decreases, carbon black production increases, and the pressure drop rises, leading to severe blockages in the pipes! The best practice when hydrocarbons are present is to control the amount of acid gas, ensure complete combustion without exceeding temperature limits, and contact the upstream units to identify the cause promptly!
