On the morning of March 1, 2020, a ceremony marking the resumption of work on Ningxia Kunpeng Clean Energy Co., Ltd.’s coal-based ethylene glycol project was held at the construction site of the ethylene glycol production facility. The coal-to-ethylene glycol project of Ningxia Kunpeng Clean Energy Co., Ltd. is one of the key construction projects in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region for the year 2020. This project not only represents a breakthrough for the industrial development of the Ningdong Chemical Industry Base but also accelerates the transformation and upgrading from traditional coal chemical industries to high-end, sophisticated coal chemical industries ； It is also an important part of the strategic emerging industry clusters and related industry clusters in the Ningdong Chemical Industry Base. In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ningdong Management Committee urged enterprises to strengthen epidemic prevention measures, while also providing active support for their resumption of operations. Ningxia Kunpeng Clean Energy Co., Ltd. and China National Chemical Engineering 11th Construction Co., Ltd. have formulated scientific plans for resuming work and implementing epidemic prevention measures in line with the actual conditions of the project as well as the requirements set out in the documents issued by the Ningdong Epidemic Control Office. They have also strengthened the monitoring and management of those returning to work, to ensure that the project can resume operations in an orderly and controlled manner. Huang Bin, General Manager of Ningxia Kunpeng Clean Energy Co., Ltd., Wang Tianding, Project Manager of China Chemical Engineering 11th Construction Co., Ltd., and Ma Zhiyou, Director of Beijing Huaxia Petrochemical Engineering Supervision Co., Ltd., attended this resumption-of-work ceremony. The ethylene glycol project of Ningxia Kunpeng Clean Energy Co., Ltd. is located in the Chemical New Materials Park of the Ningdong Industrial Zone, covering an area of 42.09 hectares. The main construction components include 10 key production units such as gasification, shift reaction and heat recovery, low-temperature methanol washing, PSA hydrogen production, CO cryogenic separation, polyol production units, sulfur recovery, and ethylene glycol production. Supporting facilities such as circulating water systems, sewage treatment plants, tank areas, loading/unloading facilities, and flares are also built to support operations. Coal is used as the raw material to produce syngas, which is then used to manufacture products such as ethylene glycol, polyols, and hydrogen. The total investment for this project is 4,331.62 million yuan, of which 240.95 million yuan is allocated to environmental protection measures, accounting for 5.56% of the total investment. These funds are used primarily for waste gas treatment, wastewater treatment, preventing leakage in the factory area, noise control, and the disposal of solid waste.
