With forward-thinking planning and strategic layout, Yulin Chemical relies on the construction of the \"Demonstration Project for the Utilization of Coal at Different Levels to Produce New Chemical Materials\" to strive to become a world-class chemical industry company, providing customers with high-quality products and excellent services. Building on Yulin’s coal resource endowments and relying on a coal utilization technology system with independent intellectual property rights, this project integrates coal chemistry and petrochemical industry closely, incorporates modern technologies, and upgrades traditional industries. It targets economic sectors such as new materials and new energy, focusing on three key areas: textile materials, automotive materials, and building decoration materials. The goal is to create a complete industrial chain and foster an aggregation of high-end material industries, thereby enabling the energy and chemical industry base in northern Shaanxi to gain a global competitive advantage in these three fields. This project is currently the largest coal chemical complex under construction in the world. It covers an area of approximately 13 square kilometers, with a planned total investment of around 125 billion yuan. It is capable of processing about 24 million tons of coal per year and includes 27 processing units along with the associated utility systems. These include facilities for the medium- and low-temperature pyrolysis of 15 million tons of coal, as well as production of 5.6 million tons of methanol, 1.8 million tons of ethylene glycol, and 2 million tons of olefins, plus downstream products derived from these raw materials. The project will be constructed in two phases and four stages: Phase 1, Stage 1 involves the construction of an ethylene glycol plant with an annual production capacity of 1.8 million tons, with completion and commissioning scheduled for June 2021 ； The two-phase construction project involves 5.6 million tons per year of methanol, 2 million tons per year of olefins, as well as related processing facilities; full construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2020, with completion and commissioning by the end of 2023. The second phase focuses on coal pyrolysis; the first phase involves an industrial demonstration facility for 1.5 million tons per year of pulverized coal pyrolysis and 500,000 tons per year of advanced tar processing, with completion and operation scheduled for December 2021 ； In the second phase, the scale of pyrolysis will be increased to 15 million tons, and the coal tar industry chain will be expanded to produce aromatic hydrocarbons as well as downstream products derived from arylenes. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2022, with all construction work to be completed by the end of 2025.
