Author/Source: Refining & Chemical Industry Updates Date: 2020-06-15 Clicks: 8 The largest coal-based aromatic compounds production line in China, built with investment from Shaanxi Jingyi Chemical Co., Ltd., namely the 500,000 tons per year coal tar deep processing and multi-product integrated utilization project, is soon to be completed and brought online. At present, the power center, hydrogen production center, and oil products center are being put into operation step by step. Preparations for commissioning with feedstock have already begun, and it is expected that by the end of June, the entire process will be operational, enabling the production of qualified products. Once completed, the project will be able to produce 360,000 tons of aromatics and over 1.5 million tons of other products each year. It is understood that on June 3, 2020, the turbine test of the propylene refrigeration unit at the project’s hydrogen production center was a complete success, laying the foundation for subsequent joint tests of the turbine and compressors. At this critical stage when the project is on the verge of successful commissioning, the hydrogen production center coordinated all efforts and drove forward the process as a whole, resulting in successive successes in the equipment testing. This has greatly boosted morale and spirits, and further strengthened the confidence and determination of everyone in the company to make every effort to complete the equipment testing and achieve the overall goal of successful commissioning. Shaanxi Jingyi Chemical Co., Ltd. is a new-type coal chemical enterprise jointly invested in and established by Shaanxi Yulin Energy Group Co., Ltd. (as the holding party), Shaanxi Hengyuan Investment Group Co., Ltd., and Shenmu Financial Holding Group Co., Ltd. The 500,000 tons per year coal tar deep processing and multi-product integrated utilization project employs advanced technologies with independent intellectual property rights, developed specifically for the characteristics of coal tar. The core technology consists of a combination of boiling-bed hydrogenation for quality improvement of coal tar across all fractions and fixed-bed hydrocracking; using medium- and low-temperature coal tar as raw material, it primarily produces high-value aromatic chemical products. The project covers an area of about 1,200 mu, with an estimated investment of around 4.6 billion yuan. The projects mainly include: a 550,000-ton/year coal tar pretreatment unit, a 500,000-ton/year coal tar fluidized-bed hydrocracking unit, a 450,000-ton/year coal tar fixed-bed hydrocracking unit, a 400,000-ton/year naphtha continuous reforming unit, a 170,000-ton/year aromatic extraction unit, a 50,000 cubic meters per hour coal-to-hydrogen unit, a 50,000 cubic meters per hour air separation unit, a 100,000-ton/year methanol synthesis unit, as well as related supporting facilities such as hydrogen purification (PSA) units, sulfur recovery units, phenol-amine recovery units, storage and transportation systems, and other auxiliary and environmental protection systems.
