Meeting Held to Review the Feasibility Study Report for the Yuheng Coal-Based Aromatics Project Author/Source: Coal Chemical Industry 114 Forum Date: May 27, 2020 Clicks: 7 On May 22, Yanchang Petroleum Group invited 9 well-known experts from the domestic chemical industry to hold a meeting in Xi’an to review the feasibility study report for the Yuheng Coal-Based Aromatics Project. Relevant departments of the group company, expert groups, the engineering cost center and mining companies, as well as professional technicians from Yulin Coal Chemical and YuHeng Coal Chemical Companies and Beijing Engineering Company attended the meeting. At the meeting, Yuheng Coal Chemical Company gave a brief introduction to the project, the unit responsible for preparing the feasibility study presented the report on it, and the experts present conducted thorough analysis and evaluation of that report. The meeting agreed that the Yuheng coal-based aromatics project of Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum is in line with **relevant industrial policies and meets the requirements for the industrial transformation and upgrading of the Yanchang Petroleum Group. The implementation of this project supports the diversified, high-quality, and high-end development of the Yanchang Group; it serves as a model for the high-quality development of the energy and chemical industry in the Yulin region, and it also contributes to the local economic and social development. The content of the feasibility study report generally meets the relevant requirements for preparing a feasibility study report, and can serve as a basis for subsequent work. The meeting emphasized that the feasibility study report is a crucial step in project development, and the implementation of the project holds significant strategic importance for promoting the industrial transformation and upgrading of Yanchang Petroleum Group as well as enhancing its competitive edge in the industry. The experts conducted a thorough review and offered sincere opinions and suggestions regarding the feasibility of the project’s implementation. The feasibility study team must promptly absorb and incorporate the relevant information, improve the report, and optimize the construction plan, thereby providing solid guarantees for the development of the coal-based aromatics project. This will help to accelerate the start of construction and lay a solid foundation for the group company to embark on a new chapter of high-quality development. It is reported that the Yuheng coal-based aromatics project of Yanchang Petroleum Group has taken over Huadian’s million-ton aromatics project, dividing the original project into the Yuheng coal-based aromatics industrial demonstration project and the Yuheng coal-based aromatics implementation project. The total planned investment is 49.788 billion yuan, covering an area of 386 hectares, with an annual coal processing capacity of 8 million tons. Pre-construction work is currently in progress. This project utilizes a number of newly developed proprietary technologies; the conversion rate of the raw material methanol reaches 99.99%, and the overall yield of hydrocarbons obtained from methanol to aromatics is 74.47%, with no significant environmental issues. Comprehensive utilization of resources and hierarchical use of energy have been achieved, significantly reducing the consumption of methanol raw materials in aromatic hydrocarbon production. The Yuheng coal-based aromatics industrial demonstration project utilizes the world’s first fluidized-bed methanol-to-aromatics technology (FMTA). The site is planned to be located in the Yuheng Industrial Zone, covering an area of 1,320 mu. It is intended to host a methanol production facility with an annual capacity of 800,000 tons, a mixed aromatics production facility with an annual capacity of 400,000 tons, an air separation unit, high-pressure coal-fired boilers, as well as various supporting utility systems for dry gas recovery. The main products include 325,800 tons per year of mixed aromatics, with by-products such as 25,200 tons per year of LNG, 38,300 tons per year of ethane, 15,000 tons per year of crude ethylene, 20,000 tons per year of sulfur, as well as gypsum and fusel oils. The investment in construction amounts to 7.143 billion yuan; the total annual profit and tax revenue is 306 million yuan. The facility covers an area of 1,320 mu and is capable of processing 2 million tons of coal per year. The Yuheng coal-based aromatics project is implemented in two phases, covers an area of approximately 298 hectares, and has a total investment of around 42.645 billion yuan. Phase 1 of the project focuses on building an olefin industry chain, and it involves partial material integration with the Yuheng coal-based aromatics industrial demonstration project in order to carry out demonstrations of aromene coupling and thereby improve overall efficiency. The project investment is approximately 16.7 billion yuan. The main facilities to be built include an 1.8 million tons per year coal-to-methanol plant, a 600,000 tons per year MTO plant, a 300,000 tons per year dry gas utilization plant, and a 200,000 tons per year light hydrocarbons utilization plant. The main products include 400,000 tons per year of polypropylene and 350,000 tons per year of polyethylene. Phase 2 of the project focuses on building an aromatic hydrocarbon industry chain and extending it to downstream polyester products, thereby further enhancing the economic benefits resulting from the complementarity between aromatic compounds and olefins. The project investment amounts to 25.945 billion yuan. Construct facilities including a 1.8 million tons per year methanol plant, a 600,000 tons per year MTA plant, a 1.3 million tons per year PET plant, and a 1.1 million tons per year PTA plant. The main products include 1.3 million tons per year of polyester, 750,000 tons per year of polyolefins, and 230,000 tons per year of styrene.
