Progress on the Construction of the Large Gas Island Project at Air Products (Hohhot) Co., Ltd. The 2# adiabatic conversion furnace is the first long-cycle equipment to arrive at the site for this project; its delivery marks the entry of the project into a peak period for the delivery of equipment and materials. Currently, the AP project has entered the phase of large-scale design documentation preparation. As of May 28th, all the design drawings and equipment materials required within the EP scope have been delivered, meeting the requirements for on-site construction at the AP site. Next, the project team will cooperate actively in accordance with the AP on-site construction plan to ensure that the project is delivered to the owner in a high-quality and orderly manner. On May 26, the aerospace gasifier for Jiutai New Materials Company’s project to produce 1 million tons of ethylene glycol per year was successfully lifted, marking the full entry of the gasification unit into the equipment installation phase. It is reported that each gasification furnace of the Aerospace Powder type can process 2,000 tons of coal per day, and is capable of producing 125,000 standard cubic meters of useful gas per hour. Together with the AP furnaces produced by Air Products and Chemicals, these furnaces will supply the basic useful gas needed for production across the entire company’s facility. Project Name and Overview: Project Name: Large-scale Gas Island Project of Air Chemical Products (Hohhot) Co., Ltd. Location: Industrial Park, Tuoketuo County, Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia; total land area is 180,851 m2. Construction contents: The main scale of this project involves a coal-to-gas plant with an output of 440,000 Nm3/h of usable gas (CO+H2), with a maximum capacity of 80,000 hours × 550,000 Nm3/h, as well as an air separation plant with a capacity of 2×100,000 Nm3. The construction site is located to the east of the ethylene glycol plant. The main components of the construction include gasification units, shift units, low-temperature methanol washing units, CO cryogenic separation units, PSA-H2 units, and air separation plants, among other production facilities ； The supporting utility and auxiliary production facilities include: substations, refrigeration plants, control rooms and other auxiliary production facilities, with the rest relying on the ethylene glycol project outside the boundary area. Project investment: Total investment of 4,710 million yuan. The 1 million-ton ethylene glycol gas island of Inner Mongolia Joutai New Materials Co., Ltd. was constructed with investment from AP Company; it can supply 550,000 standard cubic meters per hour (the maximum capacity), in order to meet the needs of the project that produces 1 million tons of ethylene glycol per year. Inner Mongolia Jutai New Materials Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of the Jutai Group. It was registered in March 2017, covers an area of 2,565 mu in total, and has a total investment of 13.3 billion yuan. The capacity of the first-phase project is 1 million tons per year of ethylene glycol production. The project utilizes aerospace powder gasification and Shell’s gasification technologies, low-temperature methanol washing technology, as well as the world-leading formic acid hydrocarboxylation technology from Davy Company to produce ethylene glycol. This process represents the world’s first large-scale industrial installation, offering advantages such as advanced technology, energy efficiency, environmental protection, and high conversion rates. The project construction period is 3 years, with trial operation planned for 2020 and full production starting in 2021. After going into production, it is possible to achieve annual sales of 10.6 billion yuan and profits and taxes of 3.66 billion yuan.
