On April 12, the Production Technology Department of Shaanxi YN Chemical Materials Co., Ltd. organized a feasibility study review meeting for the integrated project involving the comprehensive utilization of tail gases and the production of new electronic materials. The meeting took place in the conference room located in Courtyard No. 2 of the temporary construction area for the 400,000-ton/year ethylene glycol project. Wang Wuping, the company’s chief engineer, along with staff from the Production Technology Department, Equipment Management Department, Strategic Marketing Department, Financial Assets Department, Ethylene Glycol Center, Syngas Center, and Mechanical and Electrical Instrumentation Center, attended the meeting. During the meeting, various departments discussed issues such as the project background, product design, process technology, production equipment, project costs, project timeline, estimated profits, and future sales of the products outlined in the feasibility study report. A total of 40 suggestions for optimization and improvement were put forward. The meeting confirmed that this project enables the efficient recovery and utilization of exhaust gases as well as the excess production capacity of the facilities, thereby producing high-value products such as DMC and EMC, which is of great significance to the company’s ethylene glycol project. All departments must work together to accelerate the progress of the project, striving to bring it online at the same time as the ethylene glycol project, thereby seizing market advantages and contributing to extending the industrial chain for the company’s ethylene glycol project as well as to improving its efficiency. The first phase of the project to produce 400,000 tons per year of ethylene glycol as part of Shaanxi Yulin Energy Group Co., Ltd.’s 1.2 million tons per year coal-based ethylene glycol production capacity, is a project that marks the start of operations at the coal-based clean fuel and high-end chemical materials manufacturing bases located in the Qingshui Industrial Park of the Yushen Industrial Zone. The total planned land area for this project is 711 mu, with an estimated investment of 6 billion yuan; the construction period is set at 30 months, and completion and operation are scheduled for 2022. The project construction includes coal gasification units, purification units, H2/CO separation units, ethylene glycol units, etc. The utility systems and supporting auxiliary facilities include: 3×350t/h high-temperature and high-pressure circulating fluidized bed boilers + 2×30MW back-pressure steam turbine generator sets, air separation units, circulating water stations, desalination stations, storage and transportation facilities, and sewage treatment plants. The coal gasification unit utilizes the Coalis pulverized coal gasification technology and includes 2 pulverized coal gasifiers; the ethylene glycol unit employs the Zhongke Yuandong ethylene glycol technology. Carbon monoxide and hydrogen are used to indirectly synthesize ethylene glycol through carbonylation, coupling, and hydrogenation, with by-products including dimethyl carbonate, crude ethanol, mixed alcohols, sulfur, liquid oxygen, and liquid nitrogen.
